Within the food industry, the jerky category is said to be worth $4 billion. The class of jerky products has seen double-digit growth for the first time in 20-years. But it is a category dominated by 3 companies, which together control roughly 80% of the revenues derived from sales of the manufactured meat. “We believe as a catalyst we started this,” said KRAVE Jerky CEO Jonathan Sebastiani, who provided the aforementioned numbers to FORBES.
Sebastiani is on a mission to make KRAVE Jerky a $100 million company in a few years’ time, change the negative stigma associated with jerky products and achieve both goals through an association with professional athletes.
